Beautiful Varkala
Considered to be one of the top 10 beaches of the world, this small coastal paradise is located 51km from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala. A refreshing change from Kerala's usual terrain as Varkala has vast cliffs - beautiful to watch the sunrise from. Go out of season during March through to November to get the best from this gorgeous place. It is thought that the Papanasam beach (meaning ‘destruction of sins') has special medicinal healing powers so if you are lucky, you may see a local perform a ritual for the dead.
